
Phyllis K. Jackson, SPHR
Phyllis K. Jackson began writing Affirmative Action Plans in 1980 while employed at a private Corporation. In 1985 she started Jackson & Associates Consulting, a firm specializing in assisting companies in their Affirmative Action Compliance efforts. She currently has clients in various industries including Financial, Medical, Manufacturing, Mining, Communications, Retail, Public Utilities, Oil & Gas, Transportation, and Construction.
Phyllis K. Jackson was invited to Washington D.C. to participate in a SHRM panel representing corporations with Federal Contracts. The panel of six persons from across the United States was invited to meet with the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP). She also participated in the OFCCP's Grassroots Partnership Act meeting held in Dallas. The OFCCP was in the process of revising the Federal regulations applying to companies that have contracts with the Federal Government. These regulations require companies to establish Affirmative Action Programs and detail the components. Shirley Wilcher, former Director of the OFCCP, led the representatives from the government. Results of the discussions were released to the public for comment. President Clinton signed the final regulation revisions on November 13, 2000.
